Summary

Position Summary

The Student Placement Specialist will be the liaison between educational institutions and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. The Student Placement Specialist collaborates with clinical placement coordinators, faculty, students, clinical leadership, and other clinical practice partners in developing and implementing plans for prelicensure clinical placements. Collaboration involves reviewing program and student clinical site requests, assessing clinical site and preceptor availability, evaluating current clinical sites and preceptors, and continually recruiting additional qualified preceptors. The Student Placement Specialist oversees the onboarding process for all students and faculty and reviews all onboarding documentation for compliance. The Student Placement Specialist manages all Project SEARCH interns and activities.  Project SEARCH is a high school transition program designed to provide education and job training to young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Education, Business, or Social/Behavioral Science

Experience

  • 3 years’ experience in healthcare with demonstrated knowledge of adult education principles
  • Experience in student programming working with high school and college students

Preferred Requirements

Preferred Education

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare, Education, Business, or Social/Behavioral Science

Preferred Experience

  • 4-6 years’ experience in student program working with high school and college students

Preferred License/Registration/Certifications

  • Certification in Career Development Facilitation

Core Job Responsibilities

Student Placement Specialist

  • Communicates, establishes, and maintains rapport with Clinical Coordinators from various academic facilities in a professional manner.
  • Student database management system Administrator.
  • Reviews and approves all student clinical requests.
  • Review all students and faculty documents to ensure SRHS clinical compliance is met.
  • Submits clinical requests to Department Managers and Practice Managers for student and schedule approvals.
  • Provides Clinical Coordinators and students with information about the onboarding process, SRHS clinical guidelines, Student Orientation Manual, regulatory, policy, and health compliance requirements, orientation dates, and fit testing schedule.
  • Reviews and updates all onboarding material annually and as needed, to include Student Orientation Manual, online modules, and forms.
  • Facilitates Legal requests for new affiliation agreements/renewal of agreements with colleges/universities using SRHS as a clinical site for student clinical / non-clinical rotations, internships.
  • Facilitates presentations/meetings when needed with instructors and students to address behaviors not in accordance with SRHS Values.
  • Coordinates with Human Resources (HR) and Information Technology (IT) to provide students and instructors log in credentials to the hospital intranet and the electronic documentation system.
  • Assigns specific training modules for students and instructors through the web-based learning management platform.
  • Coordinates student respirator medical clearance process and compliance, schedules fit test sessions, and provide respirator fit testing.
  • Prepares reports and databases to track student placement, student electronic access, fit testing, Influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations, and medical and religious exemptions for COVID-19.
  • Seeks funds for Student Programs and Project SEARCH through SRHS Foundation.
  • Serves on Upstate Regional Education Board.
  • Serves on Career and Technical Education Council for partnering schools.
  • Assist with Community Career Fairs.
  • Promote SRHS through student career fairs and other related events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Project Search Liaison

  • Serves as Business Liaison for Project SEARCH (PS).
  • Implements and markets PS Program to SRHS.
  • Seeks employment opportunities outside of SRHS PS Interns.
  • Implements and markets Project SEARCH Program to SRHS.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary departments as host sites for PS interns.
  • Assist PS instructor with the development of Project SEARCH Advisory Boards.
  • Coordinates all maintenance of Project SEARCH Training Room as needed.
  • Demonstrated leadership, motivational and influencing skills.
  • The ability to communicate and implement change at various levels.
  • The ability to create and deliver effective, impactful presentation to small and large groups.
  • Must be able to withstand the stress and demands of an active position.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers of SRHS.
