Overview

This position is casual / prn.  Work schedule is weekdays, 9 hour shifts as needed.

 

This position is responsible for the direct and indirect nursing care of the unit patient. This position requires knowledge of departmental and hospital policies relevant to the delivery of nursing care. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive, and consultative associations are inherent in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Documents medications given appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates, implements, and evaluates the Patient Plan of Care and outcomes in collaboration with the health care team.
  • Technical Skills. Demonstrates appropriate clinical skills and technical competence in providing patient care. Critical Thinking. Demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment.
  • Documents patient assessments accurately and correctly within the specified time at admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Assess patient safety facts and identifies those patients requiring specific safety devices. Evaluates test results in a timely manner and notifies physician.
  • Reports critical values immediately. Educational needs of patient.
  • Assesses educational needs and documents appropriately. Provides appropriate written and verbal instructions.
  • Transcription of orders - transcribes orders accurately and timely.
  • Prioritization. Prioritizes responsibilities and issues, taking into account urgency and patient needs. Seeks appropriate resources.
  • Uses independent thinking and problem solving.
  • Collects adequate and correct blood/urine specimens from patients as ordered by physicians, using proper technique and equipment. Correctly labels specimens and processes.
  • Ensures appropriate delivery of specimens to the lab via courier or specimen pick up from outside agencies.

Qualifications

  • Oncology nursing experience highly preferred

Credentials

Essential:
* RN - Registered Nurse
* BLS - Basic Life Saving certification
Nonessential:
* OCN - Oncology RN Certification

Education

Essential:
* RN Diploma/RN Graduate Program

Entry
