Registered Nurse Mother Baby OB Labor and Delivery Rotation

Job Description
Responsible to Unit Director for overall nursing practice. Includes the responsibility for assessment of childbearing women (adolescence to middle adulthood), neonates, and family needs, the development of a plan of care to meet those needs, implementation of nursing interventions, and evaluation of nursing care based on outcomes for the population served.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Completion of an accredited registered nurse program required; BSN preferred.
Experience:
- Previous RN experience preferred.
- Charge qualified preferred.
- Experience in antepartal, neonatal, obstetrical and/or pediatric nursing preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Effectively functions as a team member and as a liaison between patient and staff.
- Supports and encourages harmonious communication skills.
- Job requires strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
- Communicates in highly professional manner at all times.
- Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers at all times.
License/Certification/Registration:
- Current Pennsylvania RN licensure.
- Meets the American Heart Association's standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.
- Within one year of the hire/transfer date, completes the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and renews NRP every two years.
- Within one year of the hire/transfer date, meets the American Heart Association's standards for Healthcare Provider Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) renews ACLS every two years.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives minimal supervision from the Director, Women & Children's Services.
SUPERVISION GIVEN
The Registered Nurse will only have supervision of others while serving as Charge Nurse.
