Overview

Performs routine duties at the Surgical Center which will assist the nursing staff in caring for patients. Performs duties under the direct supervision of a professional RN and is responsible for the care/duties assigned for patient care.

Qualifications

Education:

 

1) High School Graduate or GED.
2) Completion of a patient care training course.

 

Experience:

 

1) Previous hospital experience preferred.
2) Previous experience in a position with patient care activity is preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

 

1) Ability to follow instructions and perform routine tasks carefully and properly.
2) Addresses patient and families with appropriate title.
3) Listens and responds appropriately to patients, families, staff, and physician concerns.
4) Uses a calm caring attitude with verbal, non-verbal and written communication.
5) Communicates pertinent information concerning the patient, equipment, instruments and supplies to the appropriate person.
6) Updates knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis including, but not limited to successful completion and maintenance of job related competencies.
7) Effectively functions as a team member and as a liaison between patient and staff.
8) Supports and encourages harmonious communication skills.
9) Demonstrates high level of mental and emotional tolerance, uses tact, sensitivity and sound judgments.
10) Communicates in highly professional manner at all times.

 

License/Certification/Registration:

 

1) Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.
2) Nursing Assistant Certification by the state of Pennsylvania.
