Department: Neonatal Intensive Care

Shift:  Day

Working Hours:  7a-7p

Summary:
The transport RN holds an important leadership role with the NICU. They are responsible for attending high risk deliveries, performing lifesaving interventions and stabilizing the sick neonate alongside the transport Respiratory Therapist. They are also great communicators who relate well with the medical team, families, and co- workers. The transport RN acts as an ambassador for our NICU and encourages a professional work environment. Transport sick neonates from referral centers via helicopter and/or ambulances. Train others and be an active participant of the transport team. Be able to place UVC and be able to intubate as needed.

Other information:

Minimum of 3 years of current RN experience in NICU. BSN preferred. Excellent assessment skills, be able to perform in high stress/crisis situations, be able to perform all standard emergency and stabilization interventions as outlined in NRP, S.T.A.B.L.E and Cardiac S.T.A.B.L.E. Leadership, flexibility, independence, takes initiative, intelligence, inquisitiveness, and ability to solve problems and exercise good clinical judgment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, professionalism , and excellent public relations skills. Certifications include BLS, NRP, RNC-NIC preferred. RNC-NIC required after first year of being on team. Work the assigned preceptors schedule to ensure continuity.

Must be able to meet a body weight limit of less than 230 lbs due to safety protocols and equipment limitations when performing patient lifts and during flight operations.This job will be authorized 48.00 hours bi-weekly.
