Job Requirements

Position Summary

 

The Radiology Tech Assistant performs a variety of clerical and patient centered tasks to assist in the imaging department.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Education

·        High School Graduate or equivalent

 

Experience

  • Entry level patient care, Customer Service

 

License/Registration/Certifications       

·        BLS Certification

Core Job Responsibilities

 

·        Perform a variety of patient oriented tasks to assist in the imaging department

·        Assist in transport of patients to and from the imaging department

·        Assist with clerical duties in the imaging department to include answering the phone, patient pre/post phone calls, obtaining CD’s for medical records and/or patients, coordination of imaging procedures with other departments, requesting medical records from other institutions, etc.

·        Positively responds and implements change when needed and has good decision making skills.

·        Assists technologists with quality control and maintenance of all equipment in the area

·        Properly utilize accessory equipment such as patient moving devices, stretchers, warmers, scanners, printers, and PACS workstations

·        Assist technologist with preparation of patients for procedures

·        Assist patients in/out and on/off of the imaging equipment using correct moving devices and equipment

·        Report changes in patient condition to medical staff.

·        Assists in training of new staff

·        Follows, maintains and helps implement hospital and departmental policies and procedures

·        Consistently communicates with patients, guests, staff and physicians in a positive manner

·        Knowledgeable of compliance and regulatory requirements and adheres to Federal, State, accrediting bodies, and standard practice of care for patients, staff, guests and facilities

·        Adheres to departmental procedures and protocols

·        Rotating schedules for after hours and holidays where applicable

·        Assist with correct charging of procedures and supplies daily

·        Helps to maintain departmental inventory of supplies

·        Helps to maintain departmental cleanliness

·        Works as a team member with peers and other departments. Responds calmly and efficiently to situations.

·        Regularly attend departmental meeting, in-services and actively participate in continuing education activities

·        Other duties as requested by supervisor or manager
