The Department of Medicine is looking for a motivated Staff Research Associate I to join a lab within the Division of Cardiology. We study the mechanisms by which the autonomic nervous system regulates the heart. We are particularly interested in the role of the autonomic nervous system in the pathophysiology of heart failure, and irregular heart rhythms (arrhythymias). Our group studies neural control of the heart in large animals using the lastest techniques in cardiac electrophysiology and neuroscience. Experiments in our animal models involve: (1) surgical dissection; (2) obtaining hemodynamic, cardiac electrophysiological, and neural data and tissues; and (3) molecular biological analysis of tissues. In this role, you will work under the supervision of the PI, and assist in Immunohistochemical staining of tissues and assist with collecting samples from animal experiments. Techniques utilized will include: support with large animal surgery, tissue processing and clearing, immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence, microscopy, and data analysis. Hourly range: $25.71-$30.71
