JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Description
Under supervision of the Principal Investigator and the Postdoctoral Scholar, the Staff Research Associate (SRA) will provide basic technical support in the research laboratory modeling the molecular and genetic basis of frontotemporal dementia and testing therapeutic treatments. This includes benchwork involving molecular and cellular biology techniques. The majority of work will be performing mammalian tissue culture (generating stable cell lines as well as primary neuronal cultures; cell culture maintenance), RNA and protein extraction and analysis (RT-PCR and Western blotting, respectively), as well as investigating cytotoxicity and therapeutic effects of candidate compounds in vitro and in vivo (mouse). The SRA will be involved in generating DNA plasmids for cell culture studies; performing PCR and gel electrophoresis; immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry; preparing buffers, solutions, and chemicals for lab experiments; basic data analysis and interpretation; maintaining database of experimental results; assisting with figures for grant applications and publications; providing technical assistance in the lab, including assisting other members of the lab; and assisting with training of lab assistants and students. Salary Range: $25.75 – $30.71 Hourly
