Position Summary: As a Payroll Specialist I, you will play a crucial role in executing and maintaining the accuracy of our payroll processes in accordance with district and department policies and procedures.

• One or more years of payroll experience

Core Job Responsibilities:

• Process payroll for a 10,000+ employee, multi-state organization with precision and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state tax rules and regulations, including the accurate preparation and filing of federal and state tax reports (941’s, W-2’s, etc.).
• Manage and process garnishment orders, liaise with the IRS, and oversee banking and direct deposit procedures.
• Assist in maintaining both qualified and non-qualified deferred compensation plans.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
• Create and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets to support payroll and financial analysis.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to problem solve and multitask effectively.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues in a self-managed team structure.
• Exhibit a high level of initiative and comfort working autonomously to meet deadlines and achieve department goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the finance team and the overall mission of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.
