Job Summary
Primary job responsibilities relate to staff supervision, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance. Responsible for providing performance information, including dashboards and other relevant reports. Responsible for providing performance information, including dashboards and other relevant reports, ensuring accurate and timely data entry and analysis that drive improvement. Responsible for evaluating key performance indicators and facilitating the development of action plans in response to clinical outcomes and data analysis. Ensures continued DNV Stroke Accreditation survey readiness for all NGHS Campuses, as applicable, and oversight of process improvement initiatives as requested by service line leaders. Works closely with service line medical directors, clinical leaders and staff, Neuroscience Administrative Leaders, along with staff from a multitude of other NGHS departments and outlying facilities to ensure there is clear alignment on processes and on-going performance improvement for all departments under Neuroscience Service Line umbrella, to include the Stroke Program, Neurosurgery, Neurophysiology, Body Interventional Radiology, and Neuro Interventional Radiology. Assists with professional nursing shared governance and other projects as assigned. Assists in the advancement of the professional practice environment by communicating the NGHS nursing strategic direction and focusing on activities that support the nursing strategic direction.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Licensure or other certifications: License to practice as a RN in state of Georgia. Professional Certification in either a related clinical or leadership specialty within two (2) years of hire.
- Educational Requirements: A degree in Nursing (either BSN or MSN).
- Minimum Experience: Five years previous experience in stroke program coordination, performance improvement, project management, business operations and/or database management.
- Other: Professional organization membership within three (3) months of hire into the role.

- Preferred Educational Requirements: Preferred: A Masters degree in Nursing, Business or Healthcare management-related field.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
- Stroke Program Oversight: Assures NGHS meets all DNV Comprehensive Stroke requirements. Maintains Stroke Program as survey ready and in accordance with the requirements of the DNV-GL Healthcare Comprehensive Stroke Center certification program. Manage, as appropriate, the operational, personnel and financial aspects of the stroke program. Serves as liaison to administration, and represents the stroke program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal stroke care. Represents NGMC at regional, state and national stroke meetings as recommended by the AHA, and participates on committees and/or subcommittees as appropriate. Accountable for program planning, development, process improvement, and implementation of stroke center initiatives.
- Clinical: Collaborates with physicians, nurses and other healthcare team members to ensure optimal care is provided to NGHS's neurological patient population throughout their continuum of care. Participates in stroke multidisciplinary rounds when necessary to ensure ongoing process improvement occurs within the Neuroscience Service Line.
- Data: Manages data abstraction/analysis team(s). Oversees the timely completion, accuracy and reporting of all data, including but not limited to, the GWTG-Stroke Registry. Maintains the highest level of data validity to assure accurate program profiling and internal reports using the established data validation process.
- Performance Improvement: Monitors quality standards and leads development and implementation of outcomes evaluation as guide by DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center requirements and GWTG-Stroke Registry. Collaborates with Stroke Analyst to assure process improvement initiatives are driven by GWTG-Stroke Registry data. Ensures improved pre-hospital care of injured patients through coordinator of efforts with local EMS and outlying hospitals.
- Educational: Partners with Neuroscience leadership and team members to ensure alignment with educational goals and educational needs/opportunities within our service line and the system. Collaborates to identify stroke educational needs of EMS, hospital and medical staff. Participates in neurology-related community outreach projects, including local EMS, outlying facilities and community organizations. Obtains annual continued education as requirements. Actively participates in field-related professional organization(s).
- Consultation: Collaborates with EMS, hospital and outlying facilities in developing processes to improve quality and efficiency of care provided to patients within our service line.
- Research: Actively involved in promoting neurological research projects in the organization and state. Ensures evidence-based practice is incorporated into protocols and care at NGHS and in the region.
