Position Summary

 

Position Summary:
Oversees the day-to-day operation of the Medical Staff Services Office. Responsible for establishing and maintaining continuity in the planning, development and implementation of standards applicable to Medical Staff Members and relating to appointment/credentialing and the organized Medical Staff activities. Provides advisory support to the hospitals' medical staff and serves as a liaison between Administration and the Medical Staff. Ensures entire credentialing and on-boarding process for physicians consistently creates a positive physician experience.

 

Job Requirement

 

Education/Experience:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in business/public administration, or a closely related field. Three (3) years of experience in medical staff services and two (2) years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Valid certification from the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM).

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

Knowledge of:
Medical staff services function and structure; credentialing and privileging; Det Norske Veritas (DNV) standards; laws and regulations related to the credentialing process; bylaw, rules and regulations (CMS, NRS); department and hospital safety practice and procedures; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; hospital personnel policies and procedures; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

Skill in:
Effectively supervising assigned staff; facilitating resolution of conflicts among staff; applying budget principles and practices; identifying and implementing performance standards; problem solving; developing interpersonal relations with department heads and functional areas of the hospital; analyzing and problem solving; applying team building concepts; utilizing personal computers for data management and information dissemination; Microsoft Office application suite; communicating effectively with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seated or standing for long periods of time, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to occasionally lift and carry up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
