Overview

Assists the Director/Manager in the technical management by ensuring proper day to day operations of the area. Serves as a resource person for team members. Primary duties include ensuring compliance with policies/procedures and regulatory requirements, problem solving, teaching/training, and communication. Specific: Responsible for the area of Mammography. Acts as the technical expert for Mammography, interacting with radiologists to modify exam protocols and distributes changes to the team. Creates and maintains team schedules; assures compliance with Regulatory agencies such as the Joint Commission and the American College of Radiology; assures customer service standards are met; assures quality standards are met.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates ability to plan and organize workflow to maximize productivity while maintaining quality, safety and customer satisfaction. Assists in the development of PDCA systems to implement and monitor process improvements and take action where appropriate. Ensures team members maintain departmental policies/procedures, and adhere to all quality, safety, and regulatory standards/requirements. Supports department by monitoring regulatory/accreditation compliance. Takes actions to address deficiencies as appropriate. Trains new and current team members and students. Ensures that orientation and training checklists are completed. Makes sure that annual mandatory education is completed, and competencies are assessed and documented. Provides feedback to leadership about team members' performance, including need for coaching, counseling, disciplinary action. Assists leadership in completing initial and annual performance appraisals. Recommends/Assists with the preparation of departmental training and education, quality and safety programs and performance improvement projects. Acts as resource person for daily operations within the department, section or unit. Very knowledgeable about the specific aspects/technical details of the job, and readily share knowledge with others. Participates in the interview process and provides feedback on candidates. Demonstrate a complete working knowledge of all radiographic equipment within the department. Performs all routine radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures including surgical and portable examinations as assigned. Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning and administers contrast media according to the department policy and procedure manual. Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with the radiographs. Adjust technical factors in proportion to patient and body part being examined while minimizing radiation. Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self-according to prescribed safety standards. Reviews consultation request, checking for special instructions from requesting physician, and consults with the radiologist as necessary. Pleasantly greets patients, confirming their identification and introducing yourself. Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and their family if present. Performs visual preventive safety inspections, completes tube warm-up procedures for each radiographic room as assigned. Identifies problems and communicates to immediate supervisor. Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items. Assists in the movement of patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers and radiographic tables. Recognizes emergency situations, initiates code procedures and administers first aid or CPR as needed. Assists in other areas as needed. TAP, PACSCAN, check old reports and follows department Code of Conduct.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years in a related field. Able to communicate effectively, pleasantly, cooperatively with patients, physicians, team members, and the general public.
  • Able to work under pressure and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with people of diverse backgrounds, training and experience.
  • Demonstration of creativity, initiative and problem solving.
  • Must have Mammography credential. ARRT (RT)(M).
  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography.
  • State of DE Radiation License
