Description
The Department of Physiology is hiring a Lab Assistant to support ongoing research focused on understanding the disease mechanisms of periodic paralysis and myotonia, neuromuscular disorders caused by mutations in ion channels. The lab’s primary aim is to elucidate these mechanisms and use that knowledge to design and conduct preclinical testing of disease-modifying therapies using knock-in mutant mouse models.
The Lab Assistant will be primarily responsible for performing muscle dissections and contraction studies using tissue samples obtained from these models. The position involves following established laboratory and data collection protocols, with daily mentoring and supervision provided by a Project Scientist. Work is assigned, reviewed, and periodically supervised by the Laboratory Director The Lab Assistant will also participate in regular lab meetings to stay aligned with research objectives and integrate fully into the collaborative work of the laboratory.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in hands-on research in neuromuscular physiology and translational science within a supportive and mentorship-driven environment.
