The Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is one of the integral organizations within the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). We provide support to more than 29,000 employees and hospitals throughout the state of Maryland and Washington, D.C. We have an average annual IT spend of $190M to design and transform business processes to improve patient safety, quality of care, and operational effectiveness.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
Internship opportunities vary depending on education level and/or location. We offer internship roles in areas including but not limited to:
- Learn about Vulnerability Management and assist with tracking assets that need remediation
- Assist with the creation of Standard Operation Procedures
- Assist with the research and evaluation of information-security-related solutions.
- Under guidance, provide first-level response to inquiries to the IT Security team.
- Learn about day-to-day Security Operations tasks and collaborate with the team
- Assist with the triage of tickets and follow up with requesters

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Currently enrolled at a college or university in a graduate, undergraduate, continuing education, or boot camp program or a recent graduate of such a program within the last 12 months.
- Major in a field related to the Cybersecurity or Information Technology
- Course work, labs, or projects completed in the major
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge and understanding of your chosen career area.
- Effective communication skills.
- The ability to read and follow instructions accurately, timely and effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- The ability to work as part of a team and with people at all levels in the organization
- Basic analysis and problem solving skills.
