Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Manager and Supervisors of Environmental Services, the Aide is responsible for maintaining the Medical Center in a clean and orderly fashion. This is accomplished by following the established cleaning standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  1. High school diploma or G.E.D. or six (6) moths previous job experience required
  2. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in order to successfully complete housekeeping duties.
  3. Ability to use housekeeping equipment.
  4. Knowledge of basic principles of cleaning
  5. Basic computer skills
  6. Ability to read, write, add, subtract.

License/Certification/Registration:

  1. None required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Receives general supervision from the Manager and Supervisors of Environmental Services.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs cleaning duties in assigned areas.
    • Follows established procedures when completing duties as assigned.
  • Performs duties that include damp dusting, wet mopping, vacuuming, trash pickup, cleaning and making of beds, wheelchair and litter cleaning, spot cleaning walls, vents, and floors, and replenishing all assigned areas.
  • Completes assignment according to specific procedure for job function.
  • Follows proper operating instructions and safety precautions for all environmental services equipment.
  • Mixes cleaning solutions according to instructions.
  • Following procedures, wears protective clothing to mix all chemicals.
  • Reviews MSDS Manual on all cleaning chemicals on an annual basis.
  • Keeps cleaning cart and assigned area stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Gathers supplies from Environmental Services Storeroom to replenish cart and assigned area on a daily basis.
  • Follows departmental customer service practices.
  • Consistently places name cards in patient rooms while performing daily duties.
  • Follows procedures by inquiring with patients as to any deficiencies in their room.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Accepts additional assignments as required from the Manager and Supervisors of Environmental Services.
