Summary

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the provision of advanced life support pre-hospital emergency care to ill or injured persons. Provides age specific and culturally appropriate patient care through knowledge of growth and development. Is in charge of patient care given by ambulance crew and provides supervision for non-paramedic crew members and first responders. Provides leadership for shift personnel and serves as preceptor for training new employees and paramedic students. Serves as Shift Supervisor in their absence.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Certification/Experience):

  • Associates Degree in EMS or related emphasis Required
  • Associates degree in Paramedic or diploma from paramedic program meeting DOT guidelines
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as paramedic, depending upon educational level
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Spartanburg EMS
  • Must maintain current certifications and specialized training
  • ACLS certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certificate
  • Basic Life Support certificate
  • Hurst Tool Extrication certificate
  • HAZ MAT Response certification
  • EVOC/CEVO certification
