About the Role:

Job Summary

Responsible for performing all duties and function of the employee health department including the assessment and caring of the adolescent, adult, and geriatric population. Assists the manager with duties as assigned. This position will care for patients in the adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined in policy and procedures.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications: Current RN License in the state of Georgia.
  • Educational Requirements: Associates Degree.
  • Minimum Experience: Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Performs new employee physical assessments, evaluating current health status and physical abilities, recommending placement of employees in accordance with their physical and emotional capacities, to perform the physical, psychosocial and environmental demands of the job.
  • Documents abnormalities and provides follow up with individuals making appropriate referrals.
  • Completes the physical assessment form.
  • Notifies personnel recruiter of new employee status and release.
  • Participates in the performance of employee annual health scans to evaluate the employee’s continued capacity to perform required job functions and to determine if any adverse health effects have occurred which may be related to working conditions, and to evaluate current compliance with governmental regulatory requirements.
  • Notes concerns of potential problems and notifies EH Manager of findings.
  • Collects and reviews lab and x-ray results, notifying employee of abnormal findings, making appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Contacts appropriate departments of identified concerns per employee, i.e. Safety, Infection Control.
  • Maintains list of employees requesting Wellness referral and/or information weekly and presents to EH secretary for forwarding to the Wellness department.
  • Provides services to off-site facilities as requested per EH Manager.
  • Performs physical assessments of employees as requested, providing prompt care and assessing for absence of infectious diseases and/or capacity to physically and emotionally perform current job functions safety.
  • Evaluates physical complaints of on duty employees to determine need for medical treatment and/or work restrictions according to protocol.
  • Documents assessments, completes office visit form completely, and provides written instructions to the employee and supervisor of work restrictions, as outlined in the Infection Control Manual and/or Employee Health Policy Manual.
  • Conducts appropriate laboratory tests per protocol within consultation with the Medical Director of Emergency Services as indicated.
  • Provides referral and/or resource information as requested by employees according to procedure.
  • Performs return to work assessments as indicated for FMLA return to work, absenteeism due to illness and/or occupational and non-occupational injury, illness, or exposure.
  • Performs Fitness for Duty Assessments and/or random drug screenings per policy and procedure, establishing safety of employee and co-workers, patients and visitors.
  • Completes random drug screens as scheduled.
  • Provides written documentation and instructions (i.e. light duty, restrictions) to employees and management, as indicated.
  • Monitors for trends in reported occupational and non-occupational injuries, illnesses and exposures.
  • Refers to the Emergency Department and/or Workers’ Compensation Manager as indicated for evaluation and treatment of injuries requiring greater than first aid treatment and/or request by employee.
  • Collaborates, communicates, and consults with the Workers’ Compensation Manager as indicated on employee incidences.
  • Reviews variance and Supervisor’s Investigation Reports, identifying problem areas and develops strategies designed to correct or minimize the identified health and safety hazard.
  • Validates that all variances are documented appropriately.
  • Records all injuries, illnesses and exposure in the variance log book within one to two days of receipt of variance.
  • Records OSHA injuries in OSHA Record Log Book as requested by EH Manager.
  • Administers immunizations per department procedures with proper documentation.
  • Performs delegated duties of the Manager as requested during her absence.
  • Stocks office with medical supplies and medications to inventory needs per policy and procedure and maintains properly functioning equipment.
  • Utilizes computer software as indicated to increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Organizes requested assessments and nursing care and sets appropriate priorities by implementing protocols and procedures within prescribed time frames and parameters of job description.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
