Position Summary:
Responsible for establishing and monitoring schedules to ensure efficient staffing; schedule current available staff and new hires to open posts; communicate and distribute finalized and/or modified schedules to unit managers, contact and direct staff to fill call offs; minimize avoidable overtime; immediately respond to schedule changes and client requests; input schedule updates into scheduling system, prepares status, statistical and performance improvement reports and ensures that office activities are completed in a timely manner. Supervises employees in units as assigned.

Job Requirement

 

Education/Experience:
Equivalent to an Associate Degree in a business or health related science from an accredited school or program, and two (2) years of supervisory experience in acute healthcare.

Licensing/Certification Requirements:
None required.

 

Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

Preferred (Recent, within the last 5 years,  Experience with the following)

  • RECENT Patient Placement experience in acute care setting.
  • RECENT Timekeeping / Scheduling experience i.e. Smartforce, Kronos.
  • RECENT Patient Transport experience.
  • MUST HAVE AVAILABILITY TO WORK NIGHTS / WEEKENDS

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

Knowledge of:
Supervisory theories and principles; resource management and productivity monitoring and control, scheduling management and time-keeping; quality and regulatory standards and techniques necessary for real time continuous quality improvement and the meeting of regulatory and compliance standards; labor relations and the content and procedures defined by collective bargaining agreement; principles and practices of personnel management, including planning and organizing work, delegating authority, motivating subordinates, appraising performance and administering discipline; conflict resolution; time management, priority setting; department and hospital safety practice and procedures; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.Skill in:
Leading, managing, delegating, and communicating; planning, executing, and monitoring; operating Microsoft Office tools; managing, interpreting, and communicating effectively with data; speaking effectively to a variety of audiences, making formal and informal presentations and effectively message key concepts and strategic priorities to others in a credible manner; preparing payroll and attendance documents; reviewing and auditing the work of staff; resolving complex problems in area of assignment; preparing departmental reports and performance improvement reports; using computers and related software applications; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical clinical setting, stamina to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or an eligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
