Overview

The Community Outreach Nurse is a licensed professional, who is part of a community-based outreach team that responds to community needs. The role will focus on needs related to health fairs, health screenings, vaccination events, health promotion initiatives and educational programming throughout Sussex County and southern Kent County. The role�s focus and specific job duties will change based on needs identified. This position will work closely with the Community Health Coordinator, Community Outreach Manager, and the Director of Community Outreach as community events are planned, implemented, and staffed. The Community Outreach Nurse will assist with day-to-day operations of community events, such as but not limited to: high quality clinical care and customer service, adherence to Beebe values as a community-based representative of the organization, transport of supplies and equipment to event locations, safe and expeditious set-up and break-down of each event, ongoing compliance with equipment competencies, and interest in outreach growth opportunities. Excellent clinical and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of nursing practices and procedures and adherence to established patient screening procedures.  Support community-based event operations including staffing needs, supporting fellow team members, addressing participant/patient concerns, and problem solving if complications arise.
  • Maintain knowledge of current guidelines and recommendations, including vaccination information, for influenza, COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. Provide vaccinations and document as required.
  • Participates in providing professional healthcare services to diverse populations in order to complement the delivery of high quality care at Beebe Healthcare.
  • Provides patient education, screenings, and other healthcare needs as appropriate for role both inside and outside of Beebe Healthcare facilities.
  • Demonstrates intrinsic ability to be flexible, adaptable, and collaborative in varied environments to collectively assess and implement best approaches to care as a team.
  • Ability to work independently, organize, monitor, and adjust work as necessary to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Provides age appropriate and culturally competent health education to all populations. Travels to designated locations as required to administer vaccines, conduct health screenings, and other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

RN, BLS Certification, Professional nurse: 2 years (Preferred).  Prior outreach experience (Preferred) Minimum of two (2) years recent experience as a professional nurse in a clinical setting.
