Overview

Under the supervision and/or direction of the physician or nurse performs various duties assisting with the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established standards.

Responsibilities

Perform Point of Care Testing and quality control. Performs EKGs as necessary. Ensures positive patient identification. Understands how to utilize the following systems: Current health information system, DI (Document Imaging), DHIN (Delaware Health Information Network), Gold, Provider Portal, Web sites for insurance verification/eligibility and other systems as needed. Follows protocols appropriate for the practice. Completes office support tasks accurately and within required time frames. Returns and retrieves messages timely and utilizes the EMR inboxes to sort messages. Routinely demonstrates proper technique in operating all office equipment. Maintains clean/stocked patient care area. Medical Assistant Skill Proficiency. Assists nurses/techs with patient preparation for examinations, treatments and/or procedures. Prioritizes. Demonstrates initiative. Readily seeks out duties and works with all staff to render assistance. Completes all duties in a positive and productive manner. Takes an active role in performance improvement. Conscious of biohazard safety as it relates to the job; manual delivery of specimens to lab, changing of gloves between patients. Handles specimens using proper techniques. correctly labels for transfer to lab. Routinely performs all duties using appropriate PPE and in accordance with OSHA standards. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Credentials

Essential:
BLS - Basic Life Saving certification

Education

High school graduate or equivalent

Other Information

Two years medical/clinical experience as a Medical Assistant OR graduate of Medical Assistant Program.

Salaries starting at

USD $18.25/Hr.
