Job Requirements
Position SummaryThe Hyperbaric Technician is responsible for assisting in the provision of routine hyperbaric treatments as well as treatment of acute and chronic wounds such as: applying foot off-loading devices, assisting in the delivery of patient care as appropriate, operating and maintaining the hyperbaric chamber(s) and associated systems and equipment. All duties are performed under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Respiratory Therapist trained in wound care. The Hyperbaric Technician will assist with call coverage as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Education
- High School education or equivalent
Experience
- 1 year of experience in one of the following:- EMT/Paramedic
- Physician Assistant
- Active Duty Military Corpsman
License/Registration/Certifications
- Active SC EMT (or higher)
- CHT- Certified Hyperbaric Tech
- BLS, ACLS
Preferred Requirements

- Bachelor Degree
Core Job Responsibilities
- Operates, maintains and ensures the safety of the clinic and all associated systems and equipment. Maintains operating, maintenance and safety logs and other required documentation. Signs all logs as specified in departmental policy and procedure. Performs preventive and any other required maintenance on the hyperbaric system.
- Orients patients, patient’s families, and other visitors to clinic and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Explains the purpose and procedure of hyperbaric treatment of the patient.
- Prepares patient for treatment and/or procedure.
- Prepares the hyperbaric chamber, equipment, and materials as needed for patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Prepares wound treatment rooms for patients undergoing treatment and/or procedures.
- Carries out hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatment protocols as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Certified Physician, and under the direction of the Department Manager.
- Observes patients and the hyperbaric systems during the course of hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Reports unusual occurrences to the Department Manager.
- Cleans/disinfects hyperbaric chamber, treatment rooms and/or HBO stretchers between patients in accordance with department protocols. Maintains the cleanliness of all and department environment in a clean and safe manner.
- Reports treatments to be conducted and condition of patients to relief personnel.
- Assists in maintaining an appropriate inventory of supplies.
- Takes an active role in Wound Center and/or Hyperbaric Medicine education programs
