Position Description

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center unit is a dedicated 14-bed unit with free standing staffing and nursing oversight combined with the trauma/surgical care intensive care unit. The unit has an internal facility for wound care including the capacity for two tanking rooms, capabilities for very advanced intensive care management and a dedicated area for physical and occupational therapy. In addition, the burn and wound service has access to the whole hospital for admissions and postoperative care for the less severely compromised patients.

Major/Essential Functions

Direct reporting line from the burn center director to institutional leaders.
Work closely with the burn center nurse manager for all staff related issues, all bylaws and operating procedures/policies.
Oversee all therapy disciplines (PT/OT/Speech) with input in training, scheduling and patient care.
Responsible for scheduling and oversite of all providers for inpatient and outpatient including trainees.
Collaborate with other divisions including trauma and plastic surgery.
Foster interest in burn surgery in addition to teaching and mentoring, the burn center supports 2 one-year fellow positions.
Complete autonomy to determine wound closure options of all types (CEA, BTM, Integra, recell).
Complete oversite of a healthy burn foundation developed via philanthropy that produces equipment and research funding annually.

Required Qualifications

3 years of experience at a verified ABA burn center.
Burn Fellowship or 10 years of experience in burn.
Board Certified in General or Plastic Surgery.
Ability to obtain a TX Medical License.
MD/DO/MBBS.

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of experience at a verified ABA burn center.
