Description

 

The Assistant Director for DGSOM Disability Services ensures access to educational opportunities for medical students with disabilities by interpreting medical and psychological documentation and recommending appropriate accommodations. They apply specialized expertise in disability access within medical and health science education, both in didactic and clinical settings. This includes assessing documentation in line with University, State, and Federal guidelines and determining whether accommodations align with DGSOM and LCME standards.

In collaboration with the Director, the Assistant Director provides disability-related counseling, makes referrals to on- and off-campus resources, leads support groups and workshops on disability management, and develops tools and resources in conjunction with the Center for Accessible Education (CAE). They also serve as a liaison to departments and programs, helping coordinate services and deliver disability awareness presentations to faculty, staff, and students.

The Assistant Director supports broader CAE efforts by participating in accommodation appeal reviews for health sciences, attending team huddles, and developing joint programming. They also build relationships with campus departments, external agencies, and national organizations. Additional responsibilities include research and development of training materials and evaluation tools, and other duties as assigned by the Chief of Staff, Director of Disability Services, or CAE leadership.

 

Salary Range: $76,200.00 – $158,800.00 Annually
