Patient Care Associate – Ambulatory Surgical Center

Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Associate provides direct patient care and environmental support to facilitate patient and staff safety.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
- Assists the registered nurse in the functional care of patients, ensuring efficient and patient centered care is delivered appropriate to the developmental level of the patient population.
- Collects, records, or communicates pertinent clinical data to the supervising nurse.
- Transports or accompanies patients as necessary to other areas of the hospital.
- Assists in patient teaching.
- Communicates any changes in patient status immediately to supervising nurse.
- Documents routine parameters of care per standard and records name and title. Performs and documents patient admission, transfer, and discharge tasks as requested by nurse. Maintains patient/ family confidentiality at all times.
- Responds to patient/ family requests promptly, seeking assistance as needed.
- Performs and remains competent in skills.
- Acts as a constant observer when requested.
EDUCATION:
- High School Graduate or equivalent required
- Non-degree certification training preferred
- Heart Saver certification required within 60 days of hire date from American Heart Association or Red Cross
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- 0-1 year of experience
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
- MA, EMT, CNA, LNA certificate or diploma; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting, such as: experience working as a medical assistant (MA), a patient care technician (PCT) or a clinical nursing assistant (CNA); nursing or medical student with completion of one clinical rotation.
Pay Range:
$20.00 – $26.92
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
