Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Cash Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for reconciling, posting and depositing payments from front end collections, Café and Gift Shop, as well as paper checks and EOB’s from incoming mail.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:

  1. Prefer Associates degree in Accounting with one year experience, or High School diploma with five years of experience in payment postings on a computerized system.
  2. Prefer experience handling large volumes of cash and remittances daily.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  1. Must demonstrate proficiency in basic math, bookkeeping and calculator skills, attention to detail, confidentiality and verbal communication.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  3. Working knowledge of insurance billing and collection procedures.
  4. Able to work independently

License/Certification/Registration:

None

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Receives minimal supervision, referring only unusual problems to the Manager, Accounts Payable & Payroll

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Reconciles daily transactions and funds collected from front end locations, Café and Gift Shop.
    1. Posts Sales and tax from Café’ and Gift Shop.
  2. Ensures all locations daily collections have been sent to Finance.
    1. Notifies location when missing a day.
  3. Follows up to ensure resolution for cash balance errors.
  4. Researches and corrects all transactions relating to cashiering errors.
  5. Assists with the return of checks not properly filled out
    1. Reverses postings of returned check.
  6. Prepares cash and checks for deposit.
  7. Enters deposit information accurately on the spreadsheet.
  8. Posts payments and adjustments accurately to Pt accounts in the billing system.
  9. Ensures accurate transfer of patient account balances.
  10. Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy.
  11. Reports problems and issues to the Cash/ERA Reconciliation Lead.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.
