Annual Giving and Stewardship Officer
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Manager, Operations & Strategy, the Annual Giving and Stewardship Officer is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to grow annual philanthropic support and provide exceptional stewardship to donors of the Mount Nittany Health Foundation. This role focuses on increasing donor retention, expanding the base of annual gifts from individuals, and ensuring timely, meaningful recognition and reporting of gift impact. Serving as an ambassador for the Foundation, the Annual Giving and Stewardship Officer works closely with internal teams, leadership, and community partners to strengthen donor relationships and enhance engagement. The ideal candidate is a strategic, detail-oriented relationship-builder who is passionate about connecting donors to the mission and demonstrating the value of their support.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience:
- Two years of philanthropy experience required.
- Experience writing communications and creating content for varied audiences and occasions, including donor appeals and stewardship materials.
- Experience in donor engagement is a plus.

- Ability to perform multiple duties effectively and independently, with minimal supervision in an environment of continuous change and interruptions.
- Exceptional philanthropic writing, editing, storytelling, fact-checking and proofreading skills to deliver a message that is accurate, cohesive, and compelling.
- Must be adept with technology including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, CMS platforms, and Collaboration Tools.
- Must be able to work proficiently in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Must possess high personal motivation supporting a strong work ethic, flexibility, and creativity.
- Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding donors, trustees, physicians, patients, staff and management.
License/Certification/Registration:
- Valid Driver’s license.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Secure new, renewed, and increased funding from individuals through online, direct mail, digital campaign appeals; and when applicable, direct proposals.
- Submit eligibility for Centre Gives; work with the Communications department for the social media campaign surrounding Centre Gives
- Coordinate Doctors’ Day, Nurses Week and Annual Appeals between the Foundation, Communications, and the printing press.
- Based upon best practices, develop and implement strategies for donor retention and growth.
- Utilize project management strategies to plan and execute steps for donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for annual giving donors including, in collaboration with Foundation staff:
- Development and growth of the Friend of the Foundation program and other programs as applicable, to engage and steward new and existing donors
- In collaboration with the Foundation Team, initiate and oversee employee giving campaign including staffing the committee, writing appeal letters or other communications, and leading events and activities of the campaign.
- Engage in internal committees and activities to elevate the Foundation’s presence in the organization and set the Foundation up for a more successful employee giving campaign
- Work with Communications department to appropriately disseminate information on social media, website, emails, etc.
- Manage restricted funds process and promote to internal stakeholders so the Foundation serves as an active conduit of funding throughout the system. Collaborate with Communications to share the impact of philanthropy through funds spent.
- Leads the development, execution, and evaluation of a donor stewardship plan.
- Oversees stewardship efforts, including narrative reports and financial reports (in collaboration with other Foundation Team members) for major donors, as well as the donor recognition process, annual impact reporting to donors, and giving societies.
- Writes and designs customized in-depth narrative and financial reports for individual leadership donors on progress and impact of their support for capital projects, programs, operations, and endowments.
- Assists in the planning and execution of cultivation and stewardship events.
- Advises on complex donor communications, including donor stewardship and fundraising campaigns.
