Position Description
The Programmer Analyst III's role is to develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications in support of business requirements. This position will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle. Additionally, the Programmer Analyst III is also responsible for supervising and/or leading the development of new systems, directing changes to existing systems, controlling the interfaces between the systems, initiating complex feasibility studies, and making recommendations for actions to be taken.
Major/Essential Functions
- Develop reporting and analytics to meet the needs of business and accounting areas.
- Provide guidance to functional staff and facilitate the user experience, organization, documentation and maintenance of financial systems reporting.
- Develop dashboards and other forms of interactive data visualizations to provide new insight into TTUHSC financial and related data. Maintain knowledge of the latest technology and trends in information display and Business Intelligence (BI).
- Other duties related to reporting, data processing/analysis, and information services as needed.
- Assist in programming automation projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus three (3) years related full-time paid experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience to equal seven (7) years. Applicants for this position will be subject to a criminal background check after a conditional offer of employment has been extended, but before employment can be confirmed.
In accordance with Texas Executive Order GA-48 and applicable state or federal law, this position may involve access to, work on, or conduct research involving critical infrastructure. It will require background checks, including, but not limited to, criminal history and other security-related screenings. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of these checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Position-specific qualification: 3 years experience in data analysis/reporting.
- Knowledge of Cognos Analytics, Framework Manager, Microsoft Power BI, Fabric.
- Prior experience with Texas Tech financial and/or HR, Budget, and student data elements and data relationships.
- Demonstrated experience in presenting information using dashboards, interactive visualizations, and other modern data display and design techniques.
- Experience with spreadsheet tools like Excel and database management systems.
- Proficiency SQL and/or Oracle SQL.
