Listed is the base hiring salary range offered for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to skills and experience. The salary range listed is just one component of the total rewards/compensation package offered to candidates.

Mid = $142,763.31
Max = $175,708.68

Summary:
The Director System Safety & Emergency Preparedness ensures patient, visitor and staff safety across the YRMC healthcare system and is the subject matter expert for all YRMC safety initiatives and associated accreditation requirements; through effective leadership, hands-on participation, development and education of staff, meets the safety improvement and accreditation requirements for the institution; Provides a planned, systematic, institutional approach for identification, design, measurement, prioritization, and monitoring of safety initiatives and achievement, and maintenance of readiness for CMS, Arizona Department of Health and other regulatory or accreditation surveys; Implements, maintains, and evaluates emergency preparedness activities and functions for the organization and must maintain compliance with Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) grant guidelines as set forth by the Arizona Department of Health Services and The Department for Homeland Security; Collaborate with department directors, employees, volunteers and physicians throughout the institution to exceed recognized industry standards for safety; Requires a high degree of analytic ability and inductive/deductive thinking to devise new approaches to deal with highly complex and/or previously unsolved problems and to intervene and take corrective action as necessary.

Responsibilities:
Planning/Vision Provides vision, forward thinking and strategic planning in a proactive manner while being open-minded and creative in establishing a strategic direction; develops through an integration of ideas of those involved, an organized strategy to achieve both short and long term objectives for the department; effectively communicates strategy to obtain commitment by the responsible individuals; leads the strategic planning process for the respective department; implements plans and objectives are integrated within the plans of the medical center; works with others in leadership as well as physicians to identify and evaluate programs and emerging technologies; develops and manages multi-channel marketing strategies to support health system goals, key services and business units; gathers necessary data and work with appropriate team of experts (clinical operations managers and service-line directors) to develop comprehensive marketing and promotional plans; partner with Business Development and service line leads and business units to identify and implement targeted strategies that support organization goals and vision. Fiscal Management Demonstrates a personal accountability for financial results through development of an annual budget and operational plan and management of performance based on plan; engages staff in efforts to contain costs and improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of services; understands the basics of health care financial management; establishes budget targets for department, provides oversight for the process, and holds self and other individuals accountable for compliance with annual budget plan; identifies program or service growth opportunities and methodologies to enhance revenues; manages to a volume adjusted budget; manage, accurately track and report on YRMC Community Benefit activities and collaborate with leadership to meet required regulatory agency reporting requirements; deploys lean communication practices throughout the organization. Human Resources Management Develops others through setting clear expectations, mentoring and coaching, and holding others accountable for results; identifies required competencies needed for effective management of human resources and is able to identify short and long-term staffing needs; conducts oneself in an honest, credible, trustworthy manner consistent with YRMC's values; demonstrates an integration of values, beliefs, attitudes and behaviors through an acceptance of responsibility and accountability for individual's own actions; ensures that the work force has the necessary skills to accomplish the work required to achieve the objectives of the department; partners with Human Resources to develop long-term human resource plans, anticipating future needs and developing employees able to meet those challenges; fosters an open working environment for easy access to express ideas and concerns; demonstrates and expects open communications. Promotes an environment that is open and collaborative while keeping the team focused on a common goal. Builds rapport, encourages teamwork, creates an environment where employees may feel empowered; collaborates with HR Department and individual department leadership on employee engagement as measured by employee satisfaction survey; partners with leadership to support patient experience and employee engagement efforts. Community Leverages the unique system capabilities (hospital and community providers) to increase value for external and internal customers and eliminate barriers to care; participate in community involvement; champions community involvement in the department and throughout the organization; promotes and encourages community involvement throughout the department; incorporates community goals in overall departmental goals; demonstrates involvement in community events and hospital partnerships; maintains appropriate continued education as it relates to the role; collaborates to support YRMC Community Outreach programs (e.g. Silver Care, speakers bureau, tours, etc.) and other such community involvement activities; accurately tracks and reports community benefit initiatives.
