Summary
Position Summary
Prepares the body and assist with postmortem examinations. Perform registration/LIS functions. Responsible for the cleanliness of the morgue, gross tissue examination / cutting areas and disposal of all biohazard waste. Must verify correct death process procedures/paperwork. Notifies Coroner and funeral homes and possess natural ability for public relations. Must be able to provide and understand the specific communication, developmental and treatment needs of patients, families and visitors ranging in age from neonate-birth to geriatric. While these standards are intended to be an accurate reflection of the job requirements, management reserves the right to modify add/or remove duties from particular jobs and to assign other duties as necessary. Must help in Histology, i.e., embed tissue, clean blocks and clean grossing stations. Compliance: understands and complies with the Standards of behavior, department policies, procedures and regulations.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completes SRHS's training program and 3-6 months on-the-job training under the direction of a pathologist.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Computer skills required.
