So what brings me joy in my role? I would have to say, and this might be the most generic answer, probably the most generic answer a nurse can give, but what brings me joy is just being able to help people. And sometimes it's just the simplest things of getting them an extra apple juice or orange juice or whatever, fluffing their pillow, saying some sort of stupid joke that somehow puts a smile on their face, giving them that TYLENOL, that pain medicine they need just to give them some relief or just being with them and listening to them as they talk about their lives outside of the hospital. Just being able to see that little bit of happiness in them puts happiness in me. And it's one of the reasons I keep coming to work every day with a smile.
