Summary

Rehabilitation Services at Upward is a division of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System. Our team consists of Physical Therapists who work collaboratively with our on-site physicians and sports performance staff to provide comprehensive care to our patients.  The patient population consists of pre- and post-operative orthopedics and sports related injuries. Many of our associates hold advanced certifications in orthopedics and sports (OCS, SCS). The Physical Therapist Residency Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating residency education and development.  He/she is responsible for all aspects of the residency program and providing support to associates involved in mentoring residents. He/she evaluates and treats patients by referral.  He/she plans treatment programs and performs therapy to restore function, prevent disability, and maximize the potential and quality of life following disease, injury or surgery.  He/she may delegate patients to PTAs and performs re-evaluations and supervisory visits per state practice act.   He/she appropriately modifies treatment plans and procedures and uses appropriate communication techniques to achieve optimal results.  He/she may supervise PTAs, Rehab Techs, and students.  He/she participates in community presentations, staff education, and other departmental activities as requested by the supervisor, manager or director.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited physical therapist education program

 

Experience

  • One year of clinical experience in the defined area of practice (sports, orthopedics).
  • ABPTS board certification based on the applicable residency program.
    • Sports – Sports Certified Specialist (SCS)
    • Orthopedics – Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS)

 

License/Registration/Certifications

  • SC PT License
  • CPR-AHA BLS
  • ABPTS board certification based on the applicable residency program

 

Preferred Requirements

 

Preferred Education

  • MS/DPT in Physical Therapy

 

Preferred Experience

  • Three years
