Job Description
OverviewCenturion is proud to be a leading provider of comprehensive healthcare services to correctional facilities, state hospitals, and community mental health centers nationwide.
We are currently seeking a full-time Chief Nursing Officer to join our Corporate team. This is a remote position.
Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Chief of Clinical Operations and the Chief Medical Officer, the Chief Nursing Officer ensures that medical and nursing programs are clinically appropriate and contractually compliant. Supports current medical contracts clinically and oversees clinical development and review of processes and procedures. Coordinates support for Centurion/MHM medical nursing staff and supervises the nursing Clinical Operations staff.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of assigned medical/nursing Clinical Operations Specialists and Infection Prevention and Control Corporate Coordinator
- Works in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer to review medical/nursing services program, policy and implement programs consistently throughout Centurion programs
- Collaborate with regional nursing leadership in all Centurion contracts to maintain and enhance nursing services; collaborate with MH nursing leadership to identify and provide education, training, program review as indicated/requested
- Assists in the development/review of medical/nursing content for proposal development, as indicated
- Participates in business development pre-proposal bid tours, oral presentations, general sales presentations, as requested
- Assists with implementation of new Centurion/MHM contracts with medical nursing responsibilities
- Assists/provides staff to participate in initial and annual contract reviews for Centurion contracts as well as pre-accreditation reviews. Assists in/provides resources for preparation for schedule accreditation/client reviews
- Assists/provides input specific to contract monitoring tools to verify consistency and continuity with Centurion/MHM policy/standards of practice as well as national standards (NCCHC, ACA)
- Works collaboratively with other Clinical Operations specialty areas and Medical Management team to support coordination of patient care within the correctional facility and with outside agencies, as well as in coordination with offsite/community resources
- Ensures Centurion/MHM Senior management staff are apprised of medical strengths and challenges within specific contracts
- Ensures provision of clinical/nursing consultation upon request
- Coordinates the development of model clinical policies and procedures/forms, staff training modules and group curriculum related to nursing services
- Participates in weekly calls with the Chief Medical Officer and Statewide Medical Directors and the monthly Infectious Disease Committee call.
- Serves as the lead for the Nursing Credentialing calls; facilitates discussion/provides recommendations specific to nursing credential issues to the Credentialing Committee
- Provision of clinical support for quarterly conference calls with Directors of Nursing.
- Coordinates the development of programming for clinical staff at annual clinical conferences as scheduled.
- Represents Centurion/MHM at conferences, meetings, and marketing opportunities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing; Master’s degree preferred.
- Ten years Clinical Management experience.
- Five years of progressive supervisory/managerial experience.
- Five years of clinical experience in an acute care, emergency care, correctional healthcare or community healthcare program
- Experience in correctional healthcare preferred.
- Ability to interact well with physicians and varied levels of management, clinical and administrative staff in a correctional environment.
- Ability to work with site, county and state correctional administrative staff and/or clinical/administrative contract liaisons
- Ability to work with multi-state contracts and travel nationwide.
- Able to effectively use computer resources (Word, Excel)
- Must be able to pass background investigation and obtain agency security clearance where applicable
- Completes initial and annual tuberculin screening and tuberculosis skin testing when applicable
- Maintains active CPR certification
- All Centurion employees are classified as “essential employees.” All employees are expected to report to work when requested even when state agencies are closed for emergencies
