SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY - Job Summary (general statement of purpose or objective of position)
Infection control practitioners are responsible for the surveillance, prevention, control, investigation, monitoring and reporting of the spread of diseases in hospitals. As such, the role of the infection control practitioner combines epidemiological and public health concerns with administrative tasks, and includes the education of medical staff regarding infection control protocols and policies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Knowledge, skills, abilities, license, registration, certification, education, and experience
RN degree or diploma with 2yrs clinical experience or Registered in Medical Technology with 2years clinical microbiology experience or a graduate degree in microbiology, public health or epidemiology with 2yrs clinical experience.
