What You Will Do:

The Executive Director of Valley Health Foundations has leadership responsibility for the operations, activity, record keeping, outreach and growth of Valley Health’s three Hospital Foundations (SMHF WMHF and WMCF) and three Valley Health Hospital Development Committees (PMH, HMH and War Memorial). The primary responsibility of the Executive Director and the Foundations/Development Committees is to lead Trustee volunteers and staff to secure and maintain philanthropic support from the community, businesses and internal stakeholders in support of health system/hospital programmatic initiatives. Working with the Boards/Development Committees of each Foundation and the President and CEO, the Executive Director is responsible for ensuring an effective Board and leadership structure, foundation staffing, the establishment of annual goals and objectives, and the conduct of specific fundraising efforts. The Executive Director, working with Board, Management and Staff is responsible for developing and executing a full range of fundraising initiatives to include: capital campaigns; annual campaigns; employee campaigns; planned giving and more. The Executive Director supervises a staff of foundation professionals who share responsibility for successful advancement of fundraising initiatives. The Executive Director is accountable to solicit directly and seek charitable contributions from assigned vendors, corporate and business partners, individuals, community organizations, foundations and others to acquire major gifts, both in support of specific campaigns and annually. The Executive Director will work collaboratively with Boards and Trustees as well as both corporate and entity leadership representatives to establish formal campaigns in support of major fundraising priorities to include capital campaigns and other project/program specific initiatives for all Valley Health entities service regions. The Executive Director will also participate in and oversee the writing of grant proposals. The Executive Director will direct and oversee the Valley Health Annual Fund, Major and Capital Gifts and Planned Giving efforts to include, personally soliciting the members of the VHS, WMC and WMCF Board of Trustees. The Executive Director will oversee and execute the Corporate Campaign to acquire major gifts from corporations, vendors, civic organizations, businesses, etc. Serve as the Winchester Medical Center Foundation Executive Director and as the primary staff point of contact to the Winchester Medical Center Foundation Board of Trustees. The Executive Director is responsible for the oversight, reporting and tracking of all Foundation gifts and grants. The Executive Director is accountable for the production of monthly and annual financial reports to include the timely recording and reporting of gifts and pledges, pledge payments, trust payments and Foundation investment earnings. The Executive Director is accountable for ensuring the appropriate and timely recognition of all gifts of any kind, maintaining donor records, communication with donors and preparation of year-end tax reporting. The Executive Director oversees specific fundraising special events including but not limited to the Pink Ribbon Luncheon, Annual golf tournaments, special events and other foundation activities.

What You Will Bring:

Bachelors in Business, Healthcare or related field required
Masters preferred

10-15 years’ experience in charitable fundraising, a record of accomplishment in development work and fundraising required.
Excellent communication skills.
5-7 years’ experience as director of development or equivalent position, including management experience Experience in healthcare preferred

Certification & Licensures
Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) preferred
FAHP preferred

Strong leadership, interpersonal, public speaking and writing skills required
Excellent communication skills required
