Overview

Under the direction of the Lead CT Technologist, performs a variety of procedures that require sound judgment, ingenuity and initiative.

Responsibilities

Coordinates the CT scanning examinations to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care.

Is responsible for inventory and control of specific CT supply items such as biopsy needles, pressure injector syringes, interventional sets, etc. in work area; may purchase supplies for the area of responsibility. Uses supplies cost effectively

Works with the radiologist to set standards for CT to ensure quality in techniques, procedures and patient care.

Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examinations to radiologist, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of

the patient following the procedure

Knowledge of reconstruction protocols (ie: 3D, angio, image fusion, etc.)

Performs procedures according to departmental protocol as established by Radiologist(s); understands procedure preparation for general radiology

Critiques images prior to submitting for interpretation.

Utilizes shielding /collimation to minimize patient radiation exposure, complies with Radiation Safety Procedures and ALARA principles; monitors own radiation exposure

Assists the Radiology manager with departmental Quality Assurance.

Cleans radiographic equipment.

Demonstrates ability to properly administer oxygen as appropriate

Checks BUN/Creatinine values per departmental protocol

Is able to identify and respond to a contrast reaction; is familiar with drug box, location of crash carts and intubation equipment; is familiar with procedure for calling a “code

Initiates applicable Risk Identification Reports and reports incomplete and incorrect examinations to ensure proper patient charges and continuity of patient care

Assists with orientation of new employees and students

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Completion of formal Radiologic Technologist training at an AMA approved school.

Experience:

Previous Cat Scan experience preferred.

Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.

Licenses/Certificates:

Current ARRT Licensure. Current Advanced Certification in CT - ARRT, (R) (CT)

Maintains appropriate CE credits as per the ARRT.

Current American Heart Association CPR for HealthCare Provider required
