What You Will Do:
Performs a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist Anesthesiologists and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA's) in performing anesthesia procedures for patients ranging from infants to geriatric. The Anesthesia Technologist is a professional who works under the supervision of an Anesthesiologist or CRNA to facilitate safe and effective anesthesia, ensures that the environment is safe, that needed equipment functions properly, and that anesthesia is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. This individual possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile technique and combines the knowledge of human anatomy, anesthesia procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Certified Anesthesia Technologists are integral members of the anesthesia patient care team. Their role is to assist licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation, and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia. In this role, they contribute to safe, efficient, and cost-effective anesthesia care. They provide support in anesthesia for routine and complex surgical cases. They provide this service by preparing and maintaining patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during, and after anesthesia. Depending on individual expertise and training, their tasks may include equipment maintenance and servicing such as cleaning, sterilization, assembling, calibrating and testing, troubleshooting, requisitioning and recording of inspections and maintenance. They may operate a variety of mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic equipment used to monitor, evaluate, and manage the patient undergoing anesthesia. Appropriately trained individuals may perform inspection, maintenance of inventories, and service records. They may also provide support with pressure monitoring, auto-transfusion, and laboratory functions such a point-of-care testing (POCT). They should be capable of a level of self-direction and supervision that is commensurate with their training.
What You Will Bring:
High School Diploma or GED required
Graduation from a program approved by the American Association of Anesthesia Technicians and Technologists (ASATT) strongly preferred
2 years - Healthcare/Medical required
Previous anesthesia experience required
Certification & Licensures
Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.) required, or obtain within 18 months of hire
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - required*.
ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required within one (1) year of hire.
* New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Ability to assist licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation, and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia required
Ability to prepare and maintain patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during, and after anesthesia required
